Sports Turf Industry Outlook for 2014

Recently I was asked about my thoughts on the outlook for the sports turf industry as we move into 2014.  Here is a link to a publication of my view along with some of my industry colleagues.  http://www.sportsfieldmanagementmagazine.com/article-10294.aspx?fb_action_ids=10203009206938253&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map=%5B396789873800201%5D&action_type_map=%5B%22og.likes%22%5D&action_ref_map=%5B%5D

About Me

My photo
James
My name is James Bergdoll and I love grass! Ever since I was big enough to stand up to Dad’s lawnmower, I’ve been taking care of turf. My parents instilled in me at an early age, a hard-working, Midwestern work ethic and the drive to succeed that has gotten me to where I am today. Over the course of my younger years I have held different jobs, but none of those were as rewarding as being a Sports Turf Manager. The best part of the job for me is after a long, hard day of work, you can step back and see your results. Yes, nothing is better than a great looking field, but I feel that participant safety comes first, followed by playability, and aesthetics being the final consideration. I have worked at a variety of grounds maintenance facilities in my career that have broadened my skills as a turf manger and allowed me to constantly learn new techniques and strategies. I have chosen this career because I have a deep passion for what I do and I honestly cannot imagine doing anything else. Cheers!
